If I send someone an email from my yahoo email address, can they trace back what my personal info is?

I need to send an email anonymously. Is there any way for the person I am sending the email to, to find my personal info on Yahoo somehow? When I signed up for this account, I used my pen name (not my real name), but is there a way for someone to trace the email address back to my computer IP address?

This all depends on how skilled they are in the system administration area. Your email server as well as their email server will capture your computer ID and your IP address.

Now, if you send it to another Yahoo email, then you have nothing to worry about.

Furthermore, your IP address is most likely to be dynamically assigned. Even so, at least your city and service provider will be able to be decoded out of a dynamic IP address.

What is the work-around ... provided that you do not do anything criminal ... Go use a Kinko computer. Make a new one time use Pen Name and send your email message. Then completely discard that email address so that it can not be correlated in the future to different instances of your Pen Name (that one might find on the Internet) and resolve that information to you.
Reply:If you make a threat or some such that would be governed by the Anti-terrorist act for example.

YES, they can and will trace the email back to you.
Reply:hi...

YES...By your IP Address...
