I have just found out that my employers (who have just made me redundant) have been accessing my personal email accounts and reading my personal emails. i have accessed my personal email account using my work computer a few times during lunch breaks etc. Can anybody tell me if what my employers have done is legal or illegal? Thanks
Employers and Personal Email Accounts?
Unfortunately, its legal.
The work station computer is owned by your employer, and a lot of companies have strict policies about how you use them...even on breaks. I know a business owner who has an entire IT section that does nothing but read email, and IM messages from his employees.
Some companies do so to avoid industrial espionage, and even forbid personal camera phones on their premises.
Sorry about the job, and good luck!
Reply:IS THE E-MAIL ACCT. ON THERE SERVERS, OR IS IS ON YAHOO'S
